Discussion 4: Privilege

Discussion 4: Privilege

Q Tasks 1. Put your photography skills to the test and take a photo that represents a privilege that you've experienced in your life so far. 2. Then, upload your photo as an attachment to your discussion post. 3. Critically reflect on the role that privilege plays in perpetuating racism and discrimination in society today. 4. Then, in your post, explain what privilege is represented by the photo and how that privilege has impacted your life. 5. Provide feedback to at least two of your classmates using correct grammar and sentence structure. Responses must demonstrate insight and foster continued learning. Responses that are short and do not demonstrate effort, such as simply stating "Good idea. I agree," will not receive full points. Students are encouraged to reference the discussion board grading rubric prior to posting and responding.

I could not take a picture of the thing that I feel most privileged about because it is not a materialistic thing to be captured with a camera. Rather I feel privileged that I was able to learn and grow more within a completely different culture and learn and absorb more about them while living in the United States. For me, this is a huge matter that I was able to live and become a part of the western culture and grow myself as a part of both of my African along with American culture. Being an African American, there are indeed some problems however, I feel privileged that I was able to blend with a completely different culture and learn many new things.
